ABAKALIKI—The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged man, Mr Chukwuma Onwe, a autochthonal of Nwezenyi Igbeagu successful Izzi Local Government Area, for allegedly selling his five-day-old babe lad for ¦ 1.5 million.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the apprehension successful a statement, disclosing that the babe was recovered from the buyer, Mrs. Chinyere Ugochukwu.

According to him, some suspects were apprehended astatine Azugwu country of Abakaliki.
“Mr Chukwuma Onwe sold his five-day-old lad to Mrs. Chinyere Ugochukwu for ¦ 1.5 million. He has been arrested and is presently successful constabulary custody,” Ukandu stated.

He explained that Onwe deceitfully took the babe from his wife, Mrs. Philomena Iroko, nether the pretext of taking him for aesculapian care, but alternatively sold the kid and lied that helium had handed the babe implicit to his sister for due care.

SP Ukandu added that the babe has since been reunited with his parent portion investigations into the lawsuit continue.
