The Benue State House of Assembly has erstwhile again amended the instrumentality establishing the Benue State University, Makurdi, resolving that the instauration volition present beryllium known arsenic Father Adasu University, Makurdi.

Leading the debate, the Majority Leader, Saater Tiseer (APC/Mbagwa), argued that the antecedently approved name, Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, was excessively agelong and needed shortening.

Alongside the renaming of the university, the Assembly besides passed bills amending the laws establishing the College of Education, Katsina-Ala and the College of Education, Oju, upgrading them into degree-awarding institutions.
Originally established arsenic Benue State University, Makurdi, the instauration was archetypal renamed successful December 2024 to Rev. Fr Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, aft Governor Hyacinth Alia announced the alteration during the school’s combined convocation.
