Buhari, APC Selling Nigeria – PDP Condemns Fresh $4b, €710m Loans » Naijaloaded

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration are selling Nigeria.

The party is enraged by the “further mortgage” of the country and warned the National Assembly to protect generations unborn.

The PDP condemned the demand for another $4billion and €710million loans by the President.

A statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary said with the “reckless borrowing”, Nigerians might eventually not have a nation after the APC leaves power.

The spokesman lamented that the Buhari administration already accumulated N33.107trillion debt with nothing to show but decayed infrastructure and a depressed economy.

He said with the fresh request to take a N2.66trillion loan and an additional N5.62trillion loan proposed for the 2022 budget, the government will put Nigeria in N40trillion debt with no clear-cut repayment plan.

The PDP insisted that the debts hanging on the people “are for nebulous projects whose scopes, utilities, locations and contractors are largely vague”.

The party lambasted the government for excessive borrowing “instead of seeking ways to reduce the liability they have brought upon our nation”.

Ologbondiyan said the APC knows it will not be around after May 29, 2023, and decided to push Nigeria into a “deeper economic quagmire with foreign loans largely diverted to personal pockets of their corrupt leaders”.

“They have resorted to the pillaging of national vault and suppression of productive sectors, a development that has crippled our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to the extent that our naira, which the PDP handed over to the APC at N167 to a dollar, has collapsed to an all-time low of N557 ”

The PDP charged the National Assembly to save the nation by rising above partisan sentiments to reject the latest loan request by President Buhari.

Nigerians Getting Poorer As FG Keeps Borrowing For Wrong Reasons – Peter Obi » Naijaloaded

Peter Obi, a former vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said Nigerians are getting poorer because the Federal government is borrowing for the wrong reasons.

The former vice-presidential candidate who said this during an interview on Channels Television argued that while it is not a crime to borrow money, the funds must be used solely for productions that enhance the lives of the citizens and enrich the economy.

According to the former Anambra State Governor, the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) cannot be growing while the people are getting poorer.

“Are you borrowing for productivity or are you borrowing for consumption? My worry here is that we are borrowing for consumption.

“I am saying that the country is not productive and there is nothing wrong in borrowing; if you are borrowing, then it shouldn’t be for consumption and that’s why more and more people are getting poorer,” he said.

He further noted that the growth Nigeria needs is one that “pulls people out of poverty by making the people have disposable income and be able to feed themselves”.

”Nigeria as a nation needs the kind of growth that will educate the children and provide primary health care for all communities.

“The country must do away with speculative growth that is given media hype without positively affecting the masses,” he added.

WE NEED YOU!! Why Igbos Should Not Leave Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has highlighted why people of the Southeast should not leave Nigeria.

Buhari said Igbos are fundamental to Nigeria’s growth and economy.

Speaking in Owerri, Imo State on Thursday, Buhari said it would be “unthinkable” for Igbos to leave Nigeria.

A statement by the president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, disclosed that Buhari made the remark during a Town Hall meeting with Igbo leaders.

According to Buhari:

“The fundamental thing about the Igbo people is that there is no town you will visit in Nigeria without seeing the Igbos being in charge of either infrastructure or pharmaceutical industry.

“Therefore, it is unthinkable for me that any Igbo man would consider himself not to be a part of Nigeria.

“The evidence is there for everyone to see that Igbos are in charge of Nigeria’s economy.”

The president assured the Southeast that they stand to benefit more from his administration.

He said there are ongoing infrastructural developments in the Southeast region.

Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, led by Nnamdi Kanu has been agitating for the actualization of Biafra and by extension Nigeria’s break-up.

However, Kanu is locked up by the Department of State Services, DSS, following his rearrest in Kenya.
