Chiwetalu Agu Narrates How He Was Treated At DSS Detention

Veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, has narrated how he was treated by men of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, after his arrest.

The 75-year-old actor was arrested in Upper Iweka Bridge in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Agu, who was carrying a charity activity, was picked up by soldiers for wearing a Biafra themed outfit.

Human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, has disclosed why the Department of State Services, DSS, released Nollywood veteran, Chiwetalu Agu.

The Department of State Services has flown veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, to Abuja as part of investigations for promoting Biafra and allegedly inciting members of the public.

Agu was first arrested by the Nigerian Army on October 7, 2021, around Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra State, for wearing a Biafra outfit while distributing bread and other items to the poor.

The army had accused him of soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra which has been accused of several acts of terrorism.

Nigerians React As Nigerian Nollywood Actor Rocks Biafran Flag Outfit

Nigerians have expressed worry over the safety of veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu after he was spotted in a photo wearing dress in the Biafran flag colours and design.

Biafra agitators are members of a separatist group led by Nnamdi Kanu, and they have been pushing for the eastern part of Nigeria to become a separate country and their campaign which was fraught with violent attacks and occurrences in the country resulted in the arrest of their leader.
